My policy states that I’m only allowed to schedule cleanings 6 months apart. My first cleaning for 2020, was originally scheduled in April. Due to Washington state lockdown, my cleaning was rescheduled for July. My next cleaning won’t be until January 2021. I called the customer service helpline with the following goal:To fully use 2020 dental benefits by (a) scheduling a second cleaning before the end of the year, or (b) seeking reimbursement for not being to obtain a second cleaning due to COVID-19 lockdown.This is where I’m at.I called my dental insurance company to learn if I could schedule cleaning service in December 2020 in order to use my benefits I’ll be paying for this year. They said, “No.” The they suggested I speak for reimbursements that could: (1) return a portion of my payments from the first half of the year, or (2) received credit for future payments with the remainder of 2020.After being transferred to the reimbursement depart, the representative said credit and / or reimbursement is no option. The reimbursement department department suggested I talk to claims to have my next cleaning in December, instead of January 2020—back to square one. I told her that claims said I could not schedule service sooner 6 months out...The reimbursement department said I had to call and cancel my policy for the duration of the lockdown, and that this was only told to insurance holders that called about their policy. Then she reminded me that the option to cancel and re-sign would expire at the end of July. Again, leaving me with no option.Overall satisfaction with Cigna... none.
