DO NOT USE JACKSON HEWITTTL;DR They misinterpreted a pretty important law costing me thousands in refunds. For 2 months they jerked me around before finally taking corrective action.I tried to keep this concise, but there are just to many mistakes to cover!-The first tax preparer couldn’t answer any of my questions (the questions were not particularly complicated, just is this or that deductible and such I should have gone somewhere else right then)-Sent me to the expert for the region who proceeded to screw them up bc she and all the other tax preparers I spoke to at JH have been misinterpreting a pretty important part of the TRA of 1997 costing me thousand in refunds-Initially they refused to acknowledge the mistake despite the fact that I presented clear evidence from the IRS website-I was told to take my tax return elsewhere to be reviewed and if I did need to file an amended tax return JH would refund my fees. I was told by someone else that this is actually not true, but that I needed to bring the return back to JH to review and they would file an amended return if an error was found (this would have proven futile since they all seemed to believe their misinterpretation of the law...)-No one at JH seems to no the procedure for getting ones fees refunded, I got a case opened, but no one could/would tell me what I needed to do prove my fees should be refunded-I hounded them for a month and a half before my case was closed by the person who initially denied the mistake, justifying it by filling the case file with misinformation-I hounded them for two more weeks before the highest up person looked at it and declared me right-Despite the fact that every single time I called they told me I would get a call back, no one ever did, not once in 2 months. I’m fairly certain JH phone do not make out going calls-Jackson Hewitt was startling inept at every step, in every way.Find a local EA who works for them self. Typically they charge less and are easier to work with should something go wrong... Typically.
